Pyrgos House – Kythira Greece

Tai Chi Workshop – October

Movement in stillness – stillness in movement

Bring balance to your mind and body, relax and enjoy. Energize your body, mind and soul with our daily Tai Chi practices on beautiful Kythira.

Pyrgos House organizes Kythira’s first Tai Chi Workshop in October 2020.

Tai Chi, originating from ancient China, is a martial art and movement art. The basis of Tai Chi as we practice it nowadays is a combination of accurate and carefully designed movements – known as ‘the Form’.

Tai Chi movements originate by observing the movements of animals and often have poetic names like ‘white crane spreads its wings’, ‘embrace the tiger’ and ‘return to the mountain’. Every movement is done slowly, continuously and fluently.

During the Tai Chi exercises you will especially focus on grounding, flow, centering, balance and coordination – in fact it is meditation in movement.

Apart from the health aspect, each movement has a martial application. By exercising Tai Chi your bone and muscle structure will become stronger. You will experience a high degree of relaxation. During the workshop you will learn how to bring your energy into balance, to have less tension and to create new energy and vitality without any effort.

Your Tai Chi teacher is Søren Brylle. From 1999, Søren has spent his holidays on Kythira and he knows the island very well. Staying here, he enjoys the peacefulness, the light and the numerous walks. He is looking forward to sharing his Tai Chi knowledge with other rest seekers and nature lovers.

There are several Tai Chi styles. During this workshop Søren follows the classical Yang Style, according to the principles of Master Tung Kai Ying.
