In September, Pyrgos House gives you the opportunity to help with the yearly grape harvest on Kythira. Enjoy this unique experience with the Souris family whose biological vineyard is located on a beautiful hillside, in the north of the island.
At 9 am, we start the day with breakfast at Potamos’ village square. Here we meet the young and enthusiastic wine farmer Stathis who will inform us about the program for the day. Then, he will bring us by car to his vineyard.
After having picked grapes for a few hours, we will enjoy a lovely and healthy shady picnic made by Stathis’ mother Konstantina. Of course, she will offer us a glass of cool wine.
After lunch, we leave for a two hour walk from Gerakari to Potamos. During this relaxing walk, we will pass Petrouni with its idyllically located spring. The landscape is diverse with stunning views of the island’s west coast.
Back in Potamos, we will visit Stathis’ tsipouro distillery, where he will show us the traditional distilling process and, of course, we will taste his tsipouro and Fatourada, the famous and spicy Kythirian liquor.
After the distillery, we will visit one of the oldest churches in Potamos and the tour ends back again at the village square for a drink and some mezedes.
